5 years ago a state trooper hit me head-on going the wrong way in my lane, speeding around a sharp curve. He then tried to blame it on me, fake a 911 call, and had his teammates harass me on multiple occasions. I suffered multiple injuries, including 4 rotator cuff tears, one that they can never mend. I slept sitting up with a metal cast holding my arm at a 90° angle for 6 weeks. I couldn't put on my own clothes, let alone perform other basic human functions. I also have suffered PTSD and other mental anguish. After multiple appeals on their part, we won the case! It takes a lot to stand up to bullies. It takes a lot to stand up to an establishment you look to for safety. It takes a lot to stand up to anyone who has more power than you do. Derek Spada is a true hero. He stood up to the New York State Troopers and won the largest amount ever awarded for my case. That took courage. I’m so proud of us. He also took care to be sensitive to having me view the video of my accident, which he knew would be traumatic, and had stills printed so I didn’t have to relive the accident. This is not my first time dealing with Basch and Keegan. The first time was advocating for my husband; unfortunately, he was in an MVA and was hit by a driver under the influence. Eli represented us then and did not disappoint; he did an amazing job, and very quickly. This time around, unfortunately, it was myself that needed an attorney, and when I called, it was John that responded and was available right away. From the first meeting until (the case settled and we still talk) signing of the settlement check, John was available by email or phone. If not during business hours, he didn't hesitate to reach out to me on a Saturday or Sunday or at 7 or 8 p.m to make sure he returned my call or email. He kept me informed of what was happening with my case. We met regularly to make sure I was doing OK and understood what was going on, to get updates, and for me to give updates to John. John got me a very favorable result, and spared me from having to go through the process of an emotionally exhausting trial.
