$3,300,000.00 - Fall Through a Floor
Our client made numerous complaints to her landlord, who never made any repairs to the house that she was renting. Our client literally fell through the floor and her foot became entangled in plumbing pipes. Her foot was permanently deformed from her injuries. This building was immediately condemned by the building department and bulldozed to the ground on the following day.
$2,500,000.00 - Propane Explosion
A rusted propane tank that was delivered by the defendant leaked gas into a basement window, causing the house to fill with gas. The house exploded when the homeowners returned home and entered the house. The homeowners were injured and their adult son died.
$1,500,000.00 - Medical Malpractice
A 34 year-old wife and mother of two died from complications of the chicken pox that were not timely diagnosed and treated by her doctors.
$1,900,000.00 - Medical Malpractice
A 20 year-old was improperly discharged from an emergency room without her meningitis being diagnosed. The disease spread and her foot had to be amputated.
$950,000.00 - Car Accident
A 33 year-old woman was rear-ended by the defendant’s car. She sustained severe neck injuries. Her last attorney recommended that she resolve her case for less than $150,000. She thought the offer was too low and came to us. After a substantial amount of work, we settled her case for $950,000.
$1,225,000.00 - Motorcycle Collision
The defendant apparently never saw our client coming and made a left-hand turn in front of his motorcycle. Our client sustained numerous fractures and developed a severe neurological condition that affected his ability to eat, swallow and speak.
$675,000.00 - Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
A family of four spent a night at a motel. While they were sleeping, their rooms filled with carbon monoxide due to a defective air ventilation system. The family became asphyxiated and nearly died. They were treated and made good recoveries.
$900,000.00 - Automobile Collision
A 19 year-old was hit while driving on the Kingston traffic circle. She developed a neurological condition that required extensive treatment.
$750,000.00 - Burn at Construction Site
A worker was welding on a barge. A spark from the torch went inside his protective clothing and set him on fire. There were no fire extinguishers, hoses or fire safety equipment nearby, which is required by New York State law. As a result, the worker was severely burned.
$1,525,000.00 - Defective Lawnmower
The seat on a riding lawnmower broke, causing severe injuries to our client’s back. The seat was designed in a defective manner.
$826,000.00 - Accident with a Cannon
During a Fourth of July celebration, our client was accidentally shot by a cannon. He sustained several fractures to his right leg.
$1,000,000.00 – Gas Leak
Natural gas leaked from a dryer in the laundry room into our client’s apartment, causing the death of a one year-old child.
$550,000.00 - Fire Loss and Wrongful Insurance Denial
Our client’s house burned and the contents were destroyed. His homeowner’s insurance company refused to pay. We sued the insurance company and they eventually settled for the full amount of the insurance policy.
$675,000.00 - Car Accident
The defendant drove past a stop sign and broadsided our client’s car. Our client’s neck and back received multiple injuries.
$750,000.00 - Automobile Collision
Our client sustained back injuries and had cortisone injections in his spine. The defendant’s insurance company was not willing to make any settlement offer before trial and claimed that the case was worth nothing. However, the jury awarded damages for past and future pain and suffering, totaling $750,000.00.
$850,000.00 - Sledding Accident
A teenager was injured while she was sledding on a seasonal roadway. Her sled left the paved portion of the roadway and slammed into a cement post. The post was too close to the edge of the roadway and within the traveling public’s right of way.
$725,000.00 - Fire Loss and Wrongful Insurance Denial
Our clients’ home burned to the ground. The homeowners insurance company refused to pay anything and claimed that the homeowners were exaggerating their losses. We hired an investigator, who dug through the ashes and found the damaged property remnants to verify our clients’ claim. At trial, the homeowners were awarded the full value for their loss.
$550,000.00 - Automobile Collision
A 19-year old was struck head-on by an inattentive driver. He suffered permanent neck and back injuries. The jury awarded $550,000.
$499,000.00 - Accident at Work
Our client was helping with a delivery. He was standing on the lift gate of a truck when the driver moved the truck without warning. A heavy fireplace insert shifted and struck our client. He sustained lower back injuries.
$625,000.00 - Fall from a Roof
A roofer was not provided with any safety devices while replacing a shed roof at an apartment complex. He fell from the roof and suffered numerous injuries.
$550,000.00 - Slip and Fall on Ice
Our client was working as a police officer and went to the defendant’s house to check on it while the defendant was away on vacation, as the defendant had requested. However, no one cleared the defendant’s sidewalk and outside steps from snow and ice. While checking on the house, our client slipped and fell on ice-covered cement steps. He sustained severe back injuries and missed several years from work.
$742,500.00 - Fall Down a Dimly-Lit Staircase
Our client was in the defendant’s bar. He asked an employee where the men’s restroom was located, and the employee directed him to a door. Our client opened the door and stepped into a dark area that he thought was the bathroom, but instead it was an unlit staircase. He fell down the staircase into the basement and fractured his leg. The jury returned a verdict of $742,500.00.
$456,259.29 - Cherry Picker Accident
Our client was working in the bucket of a cherry picker when it was struck by another vehicle, causing our client to fall out of the cherry picker. As a result, he suffered multiple fractures to his left ankle, as well as numbness and tingling in his left hand and fingers.
$450,000.00 - Fall at Work Site
Planking was placed on a scaffold by a subcontractor, but not secured. Our client was employed as a carpenter. While he was walking on the scaffold, the plank moved and gave out, causing him to fall to the ground. Our client sustained neck and back injuries.
$445,000.00 - Medical Malpractice
The defendant doctor cut a critical nerve in our client’s shoulder while attempting to remove a non-cancerous mass. Our client lost some functional ability of his shoulder.
$387,500.00 - Fire Loss and Wrongful Insurance Denial
Our clients operated a bed and breakfast that caught on fire and burned to the ground one day after their insurance policy expired. However, our clients were not properly notified by their insurance company that their policy was going to expire and not be renewed. Several other attorneys told the fire victims that they had no case against the insurance company. Those attorneys were apparently unaware of the specific non-renewal requirements set forth by New York’s Insurance Law. We recovered the full value of their property damage.
$475,000.00 - Automobile Accident
The defendant drove past a red light and struck the side of our client’s car. He suffered neck and back injuries.
$500,000.00 - Truck Accident
A truck crossed over the center of the roadway and collided head-on with our client. As a result, our client suffered a fractured left knee and torn ligaments in the knee.
$500,000.00 - Medical Negligence
Our client’s left leg, which was previously affected by polio, developed an infection. The infection was not timely diagnosed or treated and our client’s leg had to be amputated.
$800,000.00 - Truck Accident
Our client was driving a tractor trailer. Another truck crossed the center of the roadway. Our client swerved to the right to try to avoid a collision, but the other truck continued toward him. The collision caused our client's truck to go off of the roadway and into a ditch. He sustained a head injury, broken toes, and numerous minor injuries to his body.
